It’s impossible to paste text into the new Android emulator because the keyboard shortcut it overridden by a “pinch” feature. There’s no menu for pasting text either. When I need to paste text into an emulator instance I use the Android Debugging Bridge (adb) command:

adb shell input text "text to paste"
